My (working) project title is 'Bio-Inspired Prototyping System'. Now that I have done more research my project has been narrowed down. My current project description is as follows:
The new prototyping system I am developing will be composed of modular parts that are transformable in the way they link together, while holding an elegant finish. The parts will be 3D printed and are based on biomimicry forms so that they are aesthetically pleasing as a finished product. 3D printing is currently breaking barriers by bringing manufacturing into peoples homes, and it is amazing in the way that allows for minimal waste. Currently, 3D printing involves complex software to print things in a static form. My project hopes to change this by making 3D printing into a process that can be altered or completely rebuilt after printing my pre-designed parts. The projects that are built with this system can be directly used within the home as a finished product that is completely up to the users design and needs. Ideally, this will make the tool of 3D printing more widely used by the target users, the maker community, and thus bringing forth a process with less waste, biological inspiration, and creative possibilities.
